The Lion Mountain Subdivision, located about 150 miles north of Missoula, Montana and I-90 on the western edge of the City of Whitefish, is one of Flathead County’s premier private developments. It consists of 120 lots ranging from one-half acre to over twenty acres. The terrain is considered forest mountainous and in the higher elevations of the development many home-sites have views of Whitefish Lake, Glacier National Park, Whitefish Mountain Resort on Big Mountain or into Flathead Valley. There are about nine miles of private paved roads throughout the approximately 800 acres in the development. Common areas consist of several “Green Areas” including 400 feet of Whitefish Lake shore with private swimming beach/raft, picnic shelter, storage building and a 20 boat slip private subdivision marina for the enjoyment of owners.
Positioned on the east, north and west slopes of Lion Mountain, the development is only three Miles from downtown Whitefish, a destination year round resort town. Transportation needs include several airlines serving Glacier Park International Airport and Amtrak’s daily Empire Builder service Chicago to/from Portland/Seattle. Whitefish is noted for the only 36 hole golf course in Montana along with about 10 additional courses within a short distance. Just 7 miles from town is a world class year round mountain resort including a 2600 feet vertical ski area along with several venues of activities during the summer and shoulder seasons. Many inns and motels along with fine dining, unique shopping and galleries are available year round in the greater Whitefish area. Three active theater groups provide live on stage entertainment year round.
Whitefish is fortunate to have an excellent new hospital facility called North Valley Hospital and many fine medical and dental practices. Additional medical services are available in Kalispell (approximately 15 miles south of Whitefish) through the Kalispell Regional Medical Center and many more fine medical practitioners. KRMC also provides 24/7 helicopter ambulance services to the entire Flathead Valley region.
